Head of Digital

The Head of Digital is a senior and passionate leader in WWF-Canada’s interactive space, who needs to be a leading force in the development and oversight for the digital and social media strategic solutions that support all of WWF-Canada’s conservation and fundraising goals.
 
This role is critical in being able to challenge convention in order to influence WWF-Canada’s digital marketing knowledge, tools and abilities to maximize supporter and donor behavior. This role is not about creating a separate department, but rather to serve as a “centre of excellence” serving as a strong resource, advisor, mentor and evangelist in the organization.
 
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
 
1. Digital Strategy Development and Consultation (35%)
  • Lead the strategic development and effective implementation of digital initiatives across WWF’s core digital platforms
  • Provide strategic leadership to develop and deliver innovative solutions to ensure integration and further organizational goals
  • Promote continual strategic improvement and a culture of innovation, excellence and accountability
  • Work with internal stakeholders to seek alignment on strategic priorities
  • Play a consultative/advisory role that helps identify gaps and corresponding solutions to match organizational needs and expectations
  • Develop and manage relationships with key internal and external partners and service providers
  • Identify resource requirements and find innovative solutions to meet them
  • Demonstrate a strong and ongoing understanding of new industry digital tools, systems and processes
  • Spearhead the business case(s) for these new industry digital tools, systems and processes to be implemented by WWF
2. Campaign Support (20%)
  • Lead the integration of digital marketing initiatives to support Conservation and Fundraising campaigns
  • Provide strategic digital leadership to Conservation and Fundraising projects and campaigns that seek to deliver results on identified goals and objectives
  • Develop and oversee the delivery of innovative digital solutions to set measurable objectives and drive optimization
3. Analysis (15%) 
  • Conduct market trends analysis and provide strategic insight to organization regarding relevant emerging trends/best practices in digital
  • Lead the ongoing analysis of our core digital platforms to ensure we are optimizing their effectiveness in meeting our organizational objectives
4. Site Optimization and Promotion (10%)
  • Manage strategies to optimize site performance including SEO, re-marketing, Google adwords
  • Advise on/ inform content development to maximize performance.
5. People Management (15%)
  • Lead the management of the digital team
  • Facilitate and coordinate an effective digital team which is well integrated with and functions collaboratively with the larger Marketing & Communications team, and works in strong alignment with conservation teams and goals
  • Manage and develop individual staff members through effective performance management including the development of individual work plans and motivate the achievement of results consistent with agreed objectives.
6. Administration (5%)
  • Manage and report on assigned budget and results
  • Produce and maintain guidelines, and process documents as required to support and streamline digital work

QUALIFICATIONS
 
Requirements:
  • University Degree in Marketing, Computer Science, or Technology
  • 5 to 7 years experience with Online marketing, content management, web analytics and project management
  • Exceptional project management skills
  • Ability to work constructively in alignment with WWF-Canada’s values and act with integrity
  • Knowledgeable, optimistic, determined and engaging
  • High-level of initiative, problem solving skills and ability to use sound judgment to make decisions
  • Ability and experience managing teams
  • Relationship-building, collaboration and customer service skills with internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Passion for digital innovation
