Imagine Canada Accreditation
In June 2013, WWF was accredited under Imagine Canada’s Standards Program, which is designed to shed light on the inner-workings of organizations to better safeguard donors’ rights. This accreditation recognizes WWF’s commitment to meeting the highest possible standards, so we can best serve our mission and donors.
Imagine Canada's new Standards Program launched in May 2012. Designed to strengthen public confidence in the charitable and nonprofit sector, the Standards Program is among the first of its kind at a national level. It offers accreditation to charities and nonprofits that can demonstrate excellence in five key areas:
- board governance;
- financial accountability & transparency;
- staff management; and,
- volunteer involvement.
Among the Standards Program’s goals are the ability to increase an organization’s transparency and capacity, and to strengthen public confidence in individual organizations and the nonprofit sector as a whole. WWF’s policies and procedures in the five areas of compliance were evaluated by a group of volunteers from the sector, and were found to be compliant with the Standards Program.
