Improving lives and livelihoods
Canada's coastal communities rely on fishing and healthy oceans for their sustenance and livelihoods. Without healthy marine ecosystems, many marine species will not survive. No one has more at stake in the conservation of marine biodiversity than those who depend on the sea for survival.
WWF works with local partners to ensure that the rights, customs and livelihoods of communities that practice sustainable fishing are respected and preserved.
