Media Advisory: 20 years and 131 million steps for the planet

This is the 20th anniversary of WWF-Canada’s largest fundraising event. Over the past 20 years, more than 74,000 climbers have taken 131 million steps up the
CN Tower, the equivalent of crossing more than half the globe. This year’s climb is anticipated to be the best year yet for number of climbers and fundraising support.

Who: People of all ages will use their energy and passion for the environment to climb the CN Tower’s 1,776 steps and help WWF-Canada fight climate change.

Interviews can be arranged with climb participants and WWF-Canada staff.

What: 20th Annual Canada Life CN Tower Climb for WWF-Canada

Where: CN Tower (301 Front Street West, Toronto)

6:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. Ribbon Cutting 6:00 a.m.

Why: This is one of the few chances to climb the
CN Tower and an opportunity to come together with thousands of other environmentally concerned Canadians in support of WWF-Canada. The climb is a fun and challenging event and it is expected that this year’s climb will raise $1.2 million to help fight climate change – the biggest environmental threat to our planet.
