VP, Pacific Conservation

Darcy Dobell

Darcy Dobell is Vice President of WWF-Canada’s Pacific Region, leading a team of staff based in Vancouver and Prince Rupert. As VP, Darcy cultivates and guides programs that are firmly rooted in the Pacific region and backed by the strength of WWF’s national and global networks.

Darcy’s longstanding interest in community and ecology has taken her through a professional career that includes over 20 years of public service and consulting work. In this time she has worked with federal, provincial, and local governments, non-profit societies, First Nations, philanthropic foundations, academic institutions, and businesses, with a particular focus on strategic planning, communications, and facilitation to help multi-party ventures advance shared sustainability goals. Her commitment to strengthen the relationships between people and place inspired her to co-found the Raincoast Education Society in Clayoquot Sound, and to serve for several years as co-Chair of the Clayoquot Biosphere Trust.

Prior to joining WWF-Canada in 2009, Darcy directed the Tides Canada Marine Planning Fund, and worked as lead advisor to the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation’s Marine Conservation Initiative in BC.

Darcy’s educational background combines science and literature, and she has put both into practice in her work as author and editor of a number of science books and articles for young people. Her love of the ocean keeps her close to the coast, and she currently lives in Vancouver with her family.
