Strategic thinker. A seasoned veteran of environmental real-politik, Hackman oversees all of WWF-Canada’s conservation programs. He also plays a key role in shaping WWF International’s activities in over 100 countries.
A geographer who grew up on the backroads of Alberta, Hackman cut his teeth by mobilizing the country’s biggest-ever conservation campaign, Endangered Spaces, more than doubling Canada’s parkland in just a decade and fuelling the growth of WWF-Canada.
Hackman is also using this experience to help the WWF international network plan its global priorities. After identifying the biologically richest, rarest and most threatened ecoregions on the planet, WWF has set out to conserve some of them—dubbed the Global 200 (11 in Canada).
Chair of WWF’s Latin American Council, Hackman is leading the way to conserve the rich biodiversity in Cuba, threatened by rampant development.
With 25 years experience in the field, in the boardroom, and in government back rooms, Hackman is a rare environmental resource.
