Thank you for your interest the 10th Annual Vancouver Triathlon benefiting WWF-Canada. We are thrilled to once again be the charity partner for this amazing event to take place on Monday, September 5, 2011 in majestic Stanley Park!

This event is pivotal in helping WWF-Canada raise funds for conservation work within the Pacific Region. WWF-Canada's Conservation Program is working with communities, industry, First Nations and government to tackle some of the most daunting conservation challenges facing our Northeast Pacific Ecoregion.

Last year, with the support of over 650 triathlon participants and 200 volunteers, we raised funds that were used to assess fisheries impacts in British Columbia. This valuable research is helping WWF stay at the forefront of conservation issues along our Pacific Coast.

There are two ways that you can support WWF-Canada at the 2011 Vancouver Triathlon: as a Fundraising Athlete or as a Volunteer. We want to thank you so much for assisting with the Vancouver Triathlon as without you this event would not be possible!!

Benefits

There are tons of reasons to get involved as a volunteer with the Vancouver Triathlon and everyone has their own motivation. Some of our favorite reasons are below. Feel like sharing your inspiration? Send us your comments on facebook.
  • Ensure that our conservation work can continue at home and around the world! With the funds raised at events, we will continue to use forests sustainably, save the whales, combat climate change and protect the diversity of life.
  • Hone your communication and interpersonal skills by interacting with athletes, supporters and members of the public.
  • Receive a WWF-Canada Volunteer T-Shirt and delicious refreshments throughout the day.
  • Having experience working at high profile events is a wonderful addition to any resume.
  • Spend time with friends, family, groups and coworkers! We encourage you to sign up early to be on the same team as your friends!
  • Receive a reference letter documenting their participation and hours (if requested).
All that, PLUS volunteers who attend the duration of their shift will have their name entered into an exclusive draw for great prizes!! More details will be provided as we get closer to the event, so stay tuned for updates!

Key Details to Note

Time - Most Event Day positions begin at 6:00AM and it is extremely important that volunteers arrive on time. If you do not feel that you can truly commit to arriving by 6:00AM, please do not sign up for the position.

Transportation - As this event is held on a statutory holiday (Monday, Sept. 5th), early morning transit accessibility may be limited and you will are responsible for finding transportation to Stanley Park. Free parking passes will be provided, or translink can be consulted at www.translink.ca

Weather - Vancouverites all know that the weather can be a bit unpredictable and change quickly. The Triathlon will go ahead rain or shine so please be prepared to volunteer in various weather conditions.
